To others, a saint in the tavern,
With his ney, an instrument played from the soul,
And his love for the drink he cannot resist, he walks the inner path as a mystic,
A wanderer on the path of nothingness, Neyzen Tevfik…

With a ney in hand and words flowing like stones from his tongue,
He rebels against injustice, bigotry, and oppression,
Disregarding societal norms, he is independent and rebellious,
A poet, musician, and master of satire who knows no bounds,
Neyzen Tevfik’s journey from the Bektashi lodge to the mental institution unfolds…

The play follows the pursuit of nothingness in the realms,
Sometimes wandering as a madman, sometimes as a lover,
Rumored to have consumed as much rakı as the Marmara Sea,
Living on the thin line between saint and madman,
Neyzen, whose lodge is his heart, narrates his life story,
His world, friends, with anecdotes, satires,
And poems, attempting to delve into the indescribable soul
Of the sharp-tongued, intoxicated sage.

Uğur Yücel’s one-man show, ‘Hiç’ (Nothing), marks his return to the theater stages after many years,
And it will be performed at ‘Theater Zuidplein’ in Rotterdam.
